Marriott International recently launched CANVAS, a ground breaking project within the Hospitality Industry to attract budding culinary entrepreneurs to launch their business venture with in its hotels nationwide. We were excited to be on hand to get an up close and personal look into this new initiative!
Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor, a local client of MtoM’s, was selected among properties across the Mid-Atlantic Region to participate in CANVAS, providing one local winner with a 3 month pop up restaurant on property at the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor hotel. Andrea Siracuse, Social Media Strategist for MtoM has been following this journey from the moment it started in March all the way up until the key ceremony for the lucky winner!
Local chefs were invited to submit applications which included a video submission, business plan and in person interviews outlining their target market, menu concepts, financial objectives and marketing plans. Baltimore is known as a culinary market leading the farm to table movement and the contest applicants faced steep competition.
One winner was chosen and a HUGE congrats to BrickNFire Pizza Company, their hand made specialty brick oven pizzas currently found at local farmers markets will be coming this Fall to their pop up shop featured in the Baltimore Marriott Inner Harbor. As part of their prize the hotel is providing them not only with the restaurant space but mentoring by top Marriott culinary executives. Stay tuned to the MtoM blog for more updates!
