MtoM’s Christine Wilson to Speak at UVA’s McIntire School of Commerce
This Friday, MtoM founder and CEO Christine Wilson will return to her alma mater, the University of Virginia, to speak on a panel discussion during the 2016 Spring Symposium.
The panel, “Analytics: State of the Art and Future Trends,” is focused on how business analytics are used in everything from social media to human resources. Panelists, moderated by McIntire Marketing professors Rick Netemeyer and Nicole Montgomery, will discuss how rapid new developments are affecting organizations, as well how consumers and employees make decisions.

The event will kick off with a keynote speech from Tom Davenport, the President’s Distinguished Professor of Information Technology and Management at Babson College and the co-founder of the International Institute for Analytics. Davenport is a leading academic and author in the field of analytics, and we’re excited to hear his thoughts on constantly changing technology and what it can achieve in business. He’s written some fascinating articles covering basic to advanced-level analytics – here are a couple of recent examples to give you an idea:
Prescriptive Analytics Project Delivering Big Dividends at UPS
How about savings (in driver productivity and fuel economy) of between $300 and $400 million a year? How about 100 million fewer miles driven and a resulting cut in carbon emissions of 100,000 metric tons a year? You don’t see those levels of benefit from an analytics project very often, and these have been confirmed through intensive measurement and reported to Wall Street analysts.
Why Boards of Directors Need a Digital Leader
How a company digitizes itself can make the difference between business success and failure today, and it can involve massive investments. But this sort of transformational change requires senior leadership, and few companies have internal leaders who are familiar with digitization or who have led it previously.
Stay tuned for more updates from the event!
