10 Tips for Your Back to School Marketing Plan
We are in the midst of Back to School season and it isn’t too late to implement a few of these tips to capture the attention of parents shopping. I personally haven’t even thought about shopping yet because I still have a few weeks and the weather stays warm in Virginia until late September. So I am an example of the procrastinator referenced in #4.
- August is the key month (that’s right- RIGHT NOW!)
- Online search term variations of Back to School peaked in 2013 between August 3rd and August 24th
- Targeting by school level is effective especially in email marketing
- September is still a good month for marketing clothing and accessories for Back to School (and there are always procrastinators)
- Moms want to make kids happy so they have influence on the buying decisions for Back to School
- Moms are looking for Back to School deals and discounts everywhere- online and in store
- Think regionally- Atlanta schools are already back in session
- Be sure to make it easy for shoppers to purchase from their smartphone or tablet
- Free shipping is a big enticement
- Parents plan to use social media in their back to school shopping to find deals and promotions, read reviews, to browse products, and more
