Snapchat Geofilters: On-Demand & Ready for Your Brand
With $5 and a little bit of creativity, you can now create your very own Snapchat geofilters.
Last week, Snapchat made on-demand geofilters – digital graphics overlaid on a photo or video – open to anyone in the US, Canada and the UK, including individuals and smaller brands. The company is intentionally making this new feature welcoming and accessible:
We initially designed Community Geofilters for public places — but we kept hearing from Snapchatters who wanted a Geofilter for their business or private event, so today we’re announcing something new:
On-Demand Geofilters let you create and publish a Geofilter for your party, wedding, business, or any other place or event. It’s a fun way to help your friends or customers decorate their Snaps, wherever they are!
Here’s how to set up a Snapchat geofilter:
- Go to Snapchat’s On-Demand Geofilters page and click Create Now.
- Log into the platform, and upload your design or choose from a library of templates. If you download the template, you’ll have access to an Adobe Photoshop file that you can customize for your event.
- Upload the final design, and choose your dates and location. You’ll be able to draw a fence on a map around the area where you want the geofilter to be live.
- Submit your request, and you’ll hear back within one business day (though often much faster). Once it’s approved and live, you’re ready to roll! Geofilter analytics are also available, but you’ll have to wait until the day after to see them.
The process is simple, user-friendly and very fast. We’ve already tested out geofilters at MtoM headquarters, and we can’t wait to find creative ways to use them for our clients.
